An Unforgettable Year

An Unforgettable Year

What makes a great year?

There are a lot of ingredients we could list for having a fabulous year.

And 2 specific ingredients we will focus on today are…

Saying YES to all the good things you want and deserve in your life, for sure. And also SAYING NO to things that no longer serve you.

The first part is easy. Most people are super willing to loudly and proudly say YES to what they want.

The second part is sticky for many people. You genuinely WANT to say no to things that don’t serve you. You want to say no to people you no longer resonate with. You want to say no to past obligations that really don’t feel good anymore. You want to say no to invitations that don’t interest you.

And yet, even though in your mind and heart you want to say no, you find yourself still saying yes, and doing things that don’t work for you.

To be happy means giving yourself permission to lovingly say no to what no longer serves you.
You have a limited amount of precious time and energy to use each day, each week and each month of this year. Learning to spend that time and energy wisely on what matters to you, and learning to say no to everything else is a game-changing practice!

Step A:

Identify any area of your life, any relationship or obligation, where you need to practice saying no.

Step B:

Rehearse kindly and lovingly saying no. You can practice it when you’re alone, saying it out loud or writing it in a journal. This gets you comfortable with how to say it. Remember that saying no when it’s the right thing for you is a LOVING thing to do.

Step C:

When an opportunity arises and you realize you want to say no, remind yourself, “Life is short and precious, and saying no is the loving thing for me to do”.
